Methylated spirits (“metho”) is excellent all purpose household cleaning product for most hard surfaces.

Being a mixture of 99.5% alcohol. its an excellent disinfectant.

Relatively higher volatility makes methylated spirits useful in glue, stain remover and windscreen washer fluid additive.

The methyl alcohol is poisonous and is added to prevent the methylated spirits being used as cheap drinking alcohol.
